Ca. Mid/late 19th Century English Campaign Leather Rifle Case. Made by Adams & Co, makers of military and hunting firearms and ammunitions. Established in 1870 @ 9 Finsbury place where their business blossomed. From 1881-1894 their offices moved to 32 Finsbury Pavement, London, where this rifle case was made & they continued thriving as retailers and exporters. The firm became sole manufactures of Martini-Zeller Rook & Rabbit Rifles, where they were prolific buyers of arms made in Birmingham and across the continent. The Stand is Mahogany with Parsons Style legs, added later. This beauty was a Console Table and Looked incredibly intriguing & Unique. The Leather Case is Monogrammed and a drilled hole in middle of case likely had a round Brass Emblem or Monogram. The Interior is mostly there but is worn and missing some pieces and exterior leather cinching straps. Even without its original rifle the case is still of significant value, and a rarity. The original fabric, wood pieces used to divide the case and 2 London Manufacturers certificates of purchase and royal seal are there included in the seal is “Nos-Demine-Dirige” translated is “Lord Guide Us”, was the motto of the city of London.
